After 122 years the Church clock is in need of refurbishment
Built 122 years ago in 1897, it’s called a Turret Clock and in fact is a smaller version of the clock mechanism in Big Ben
It needs winding twice a week
The dials are over 6 feet across
Number of ticks since 1897 3.87billion
It now needs an overhaul of the mechanism which will cost around £3,000 just to get the clock mechanism working again.
A complete overhaul of the clock including refurbishing the striking mechanisms and gear trains etc plus removing and refurbishing the badly weathered clock faces will be the subject of later appeals but is expected to be around £20,000. The objective for the moment is to get the clock working again. Please donate any amount or better still set up a monthly standing order of any sum, no matter how small, which will help to get the village clock working again.
